It is so refreshing to see a color palette like this for a “Sci-Fi” movie. Spike Jonze and cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema decided to eliminate certain colors to avoid a sci-fi reference. For the first two PowerGrades, I couldn’t quite separate the buildings from the skin tone to give them a shade of blue without breaking my rules. It was much easier in the PowerGrade “modern living” to use the Log-wheels to preserve a blue tone in the highlights.
